		<description>Personally, I just ensure that my screenshot background is a neutral colour (eg, grey or white) rather than a desktop image and crop to provide a border of around 15px if the window produces a desktop shadow (eg, on Mac).
A textured background of any kind distracts the viewer from what matters: your app&#039;s window or dialog.</description>

It is a fair point about &#039;dirty background&#039;. I have actually turned off Aero for more recent screenshots and it is an improvement, e.g. see:

I am not convinced about the wedding background or the reflection though - I think they are just distracting.</description>

very useful article, thank you very much. To be honest, I don&#039;t like last image very much, dark background and reflection is too much for me. I also recently went over all my screenshots and tried to make them look better. I added shadow to all thumbnails, and it made quite a difference (imho).
