| Getting a Link or Advertising on the ASP Web Site
ASP Members in good standing may apply for a listing associated with
their ASP Membership. Each member is entitled to one (1) listing per
membership subject to the current Standards for Member Link listings.
These listings are provided at no charge and can be requested by updating your membership information.
Make sure to include your web site's address and choose the option to
have your information included on the members links page.
All others who wish to have their sites
listed - we don't participate in 'link-swapping' plans nor do we
currently offer listings for non-ASP-members, except on a few select
pages where we explicitly offer them.
Standards for ASP Member Link Listings
As a free service to its members, the ASP provides a "Links to Member
Pages" page that lists the known Web sites for all members who provide
us with a listing. The listing is alphabetized by company or member
name, and indexed for quick reference by visitors. You can request that
your Web site be listed with your fellow members very easily and simply
by completing the necessary form for your submission.
There are a few limitations that go with the service:
- These listings are restricted for ASP Member use only. Applications from non-members will not be considered.
- The
main content of your pages must relate directly to your class of
membership. For example, if you are an Author Member then the pages you
list should primarily promote your shareware business and programs.
Listing a page that offers CD-ROM collections of shareware for sale
would not be appropriate for an Author Member submission. You may
advertise goods and services that are not directly related to your
membership or business, but these offerings should not be the main
emphasis of your pages. Remember that this project seeks to promote you
as an ASP Member and the goods and services that you offer in
conjunction with that membership.
- The ASP Web Site is
used by folks of all ages and all walks of life in numerous countries.
As such, listings and sites listed should be suitable for use or access
by general (family-oriented) audiences.
- The ASP reserves
the absolute right to reject any listing submitted. In the event that a
listing is submitted that is questionable, it will automatically be
referred to the ASP Board of Directors for review. The ruling of the
Board of Directors shall be final.
Advertising in ASPects
ASPects is the monthly newsletter of the Association of Shareware
Professionals, serving both as the publication of record for reporting
news, official business, and member benefits to the membership, and
helping members to create and sell software using the marketing methods
of shareware and trial editions. Our readers are mostly programmers,
independent software publishers, web site developers marketing or
distributing shareware and trial software, and other shareware industry
participants.
ASPects contains confidential and proprietary
information, and so is normally not available to non-members, but one
issue per year is usually distributed at the annual Shareware Industry Conference.
